Penix/Trach Wedding

We had a great time getting to be at Phil Trach and Rachel Penix's wedding in Greenville, SC. The wedding was beautiful and God-glorifying. Steve had the opportunity to do the 'charge' to Phil and Rachel. They are dear friends and it has been exciting to see the Lord at work in both of their lives and how He brought them together.

Baptism of a new believer

A young man from our church accepted Christ about a month ago. He wanted to make a public profession of this through baptism and it just so happened to fall on the same day as his 15th birthday. Steve had the opportunity to baptize him at the YMCA this past Sunday afternoon. It was a first for Steve. (Just in case there had been a problem, the YMCA had a lifeguard on duty for us - no, I'm not kidding.)

The Anchorage

We had a great week at the Anchorage Camp in Lake Waccamaw, NC. Steve preached to the junior campers and we also took along a few boys from our church. There were about 100 kids there for the week which was close to the maximum that they could house in their facilities. The Lord blessed and it was exciting to see Him work in the hearts of the boys and girls. Steve and Ian especially enjoyed some time on the lake during the week. That is the main activity for all the kids during free time and Steve and Ian even got to ride out on the ski boat one afternoon. We are thankful for the fruit from the week and pray that it will be 'fruit that remains.'

Pioneer Village at Northland Camp

Steve had the opportunity to preach at Pioneer Village last week for the junior age campers. He had a wonderful week. There were about 120 juniors there and many good decisions throughout the week. He told a 4-day story in the mornings and preached every night. The kids loved watching him go down the new "Liquidator" slide on Friday. Besides the preaching, he enjoyed being able to reconnect with many friends that are up there. This next week, we'll all be going to the Anchorage Camp in North Carolina where he will be preaching another week of Junior Camp.

My husband's a sheriff's chaplain!

The Lord has opened up the door for Steve to serve as a sheriff's chaplain for Richland County here in Columbia. Today he was sworn in at the sheriff's office and received his badge. He will be serving in region 4 of Richland County. This means he will be doing ride alongs, be available for counseling of officers and their families, some victim support, as well as being on-call for the county a week at a time every two months or so. We are really excited about the ministry opportunities that this will afford with the officers.

Hailey Faith

Just wanted to let everyone know our exciting news. We had an ultrasound today and found out from the doctor that we will be having a little girl. Steve and I decided to name her Hailey Faith. Steve and I have both been impacted by the study of Hebrews 11 and 12 and the encouraging stories of some of the thousands of heros of the faith. So, we chose to name her Hailey (which is Celtic and means 'hero') and Faith as a reminder to 'run the race' with faithfulness and endurance.
